Washington D.C. and The Smithsonian

Recently, Chase and I embarked on a weekend trip to Washington D.C. The nation's capital is about 3 hours from our home in Norfolk, VA. To be honest, it was sooo cold! We did warm up a little by visiting the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and got to see so many interesting exhibits! While we were there, we decided to check out the Planetarium and was able to watch a wonderful program called "Journey to the Stars". If you've never visited the Smithsonian Museums, you should plan some time out to do it! Admission is always free and they are such a wonderful treasure trove of information, artifacts, and history.
After our tour of the Air and Space museum and planetarium show, we decided to hike on up to the Capitol and boy, were we greeted with an overflow of beautiful statues and tributes. I was able to photograph the tribute to Former President Garfield. I beautiful series of sculptures that represent the different stages of civil duty in his professional life.
Our visit to Washington D.C. was really great! We were able to immerse ourselves in the history of technological advancements in aviation and space as well as the stunning presence of our traditions in everyday life. I can't wait for another visit in spring! I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's, I know we did! Cheers to road trips and discoveries!
